Holiday Lights Contest- Cast Your Vote Online!
As temperatures cool significantly over the next 24 hours, it may start to “feel” a lot more like the holidays. If the cold weather doesn’t put you in the holiday spirit, perhaps the holiday lights will!
Thanks to everyone who submitted an entry for our Holiday Lights Contest on wavy.com. The photos are wonderful! Our panel of judges have selected the top 10 finalists. Now it is your time to view the top 10 photos and vote for your favorite here:
The 5 photos with the highest votes will be our “top 5,” and our panel of judges will then select a winner. I’ll announce the winner during WAVY News 10 at 6PM on Saturday. I’ll broadcast live from the winning house on Monday, December 21st.
Thanks for voting! Good luck to all of our finalists!

ARE YOU GONNA TALK ABOUT THIS SNOWSTORM THIS WEEKEND????
Okay guys/gals, is it time to start thinking a white Christmas is possible here in Hampton Roads this year? The GFS and NAM show two systems coming up the coast with cold air in the region. One this weekend and the next over Christmas. Is this going to play out for some SNOW???? Cheryl? Jeremy? Let’s step out on a limb here and talk about possibilities here on the blog.
Santa
I voted last night but now everytime I try to vote it wont let me. Why is that?
Everyone vote for Richard Raby’s house in Portsmouth, Va. He dresses up like santa everynight and passes out gifts to the kids!
please vote mrs. raby
thank you for all who is vote for mrs.Raby
All probably appeal to kids. Just a little tacky to me.
Mr Raby puts his heart and soul into this project, beginning the day after Thanksgiving working endless hours up till the time of turning on the lights with perfection. He gives all the children toys as they stop by to run through his yard with excitment to see all the items in his yard and they also see Santa (live) in his house. His wife greets all the children dressed as an elf and together their team puts smiles, excitement, joy, laughter and fun onto all the childrens faces… what a better way to share the christmas spirit than giving to others.
Vote for the house in Poquoson it is awesome, lights dance to music that is broadcast to your car radio. You have to go see it on Poquoson Ave it is amazing.
The Willifords have 2 1/2 acres of C9 bulbs. You can see it from the highway!!! YA!!!!
The Williford’s display of lights was awesome! It was like a fairytale of lights. They allowed us to walk around the 2 acres to view them. It was more amazing than seeing the holiday of lights at the beach that cost me $10.I am invited to come back to see the lights again and bring my family to see Santa! Doesn’t this put you in the spirit of Christmas!!!!
The Willifords home was like walking through your childhood dreams. The walkway reminded me of stories I have read and the main characters’ walk down the pathway. This pathway was filled with lights greeting Santa. My 6-yr old daughter was amazed of all the lights. They greeted us at a bonfire. Surely you can tell that this house of light was well planned and thought of for the children young and old (uh and I’m not old) I just loved the lights.
The Williford’s house in Chesapeake is fabulous. Mr. Williford has put his heart and soul into the decorations!! They should be the one’s representing Wavy 10 and Hampton Roads!!
The Willifords of Chesapeake truly desearve to win this year! Mr. Williford pours his heart and soul into his display each and every year. You may only see the display up for a couple of months but the work behind it is happening all year long. He builds much of what you see by hand and uses rare antique lights to create his wonderful winter wonderland. The two acre yard is is a Christmas lovers dream for the whole family to enjoy. It is classic and inviting. While some other displays allow for you to sit in your car and enjoy, the Willifords welcome families to walk through as they greet each visitor. They truly spread Holiday cheer to many families in Hampton Roads and desearve to be honored as the Best Holiday light display!
The Willifords holiday lights are truly amazing. I visited their home and the picture online doesn’t do it much justice. It is 2 1/2 acres of wonderment. Mr. and Mrs Williford greeted their onlookers and spreaded alot of holiday cheer.
The Williford’s light display is fabulous. Dalton works all year making homemade Christmas decorations and starts putting them up Oct. 1st. He has always had a love for vintage Christmas bulbs and burns the special Mazda lamps in his display. He loves his lights and is so happy to share them with everyone.
love the lights on Woodland. Can see them a mile away. Lots of traffic on Woodland I wonder why
Dalton your lights are amazing hope you win
Thanks to all the hundreds of visitors coming to see our light display. Special thanks for the votes. We had fun talking to everyone and are so happy that people enjoy Dalton’s light display. He truly is the Christmas man. A special thanks to Kyle who wants to be a light displayer like his friend Dalton.
I just wish the pictures did justice to the Willifords decor. So beautiful, so amazingly pretty, a perfect winter wonderland. You should come by and see this house. Very welcoming, beautiful, and the warmest people you would ever want to meet.
The Covert’s house in Poquoson is definitely worth the drive to see the most incredible light display ever. Bring along a canned good donation for the Peninsula Food Bank and truly feel the spirit of Christmas. What a gift for the holidays! Great job on the decorations.
Tying to find the a list of the 5 houses that didn’t make the final 5. Any help would be appreciated!
The lite display in a little town named MANNS HARBOUR was beautiful and deserves our vote
Thank you to all who voted for us in the light contest!!! Dalton is so excited. Christmas has come early to the Williford’s house.
I do not understand how blow ups are creative. The Burger house is made up of handmade items. The picture on the site was really bad. I know for a fact that it does not take that man that a long to hang 30,000 lights. The Burger family has been doing it for over 30 years and has more that 30,000 lights and creates his own items. He begins working on the outside on halloween and does not stop until christmas day. He even decorates inside. Talk about creative.
Is there a place to visit the top ten display pictures? I wanted to share the Manns Harbor picture with some friends, but the only one now showing is the winner.

WHO WON THE HOILDAY LIGHT CONTEST
Happy Birthday Cheryl!!! We loved meeting you and enjoyed displaying our lights for everyone. Thanks again and have a great birthday.
Pictures have the ability to adorn your home and add character to it but what adds the required life to your pictures is the lighting. Perfect Picture lighting can be the best finishing touch ever.
