Does Vick Deserve the NFL?
Who would have thought that the name “Michael Vick” would bring about the most divisive debate of the year. Does he deserve it? Has he served his time? You’re either with him or against him. At risk of alienating half of the readers of this blog, I’m throwing my opinion out there.
As a football fan, I want to see Michael Vick play. I watch football for fun. I watch football to root for the Detroit Lions. I watch football so that, for 3 hours, I can pretend nothing is more important than that game. I watch football to escape. When he was in his prime, Vick was the most exiting player on the field. I want to see if he can do it again.
Maybe I’m selfish, but I’m not thinking about what affect he has on our kids. I’m not worried about whether he served enough time. What he did was awful and despicable, but that’s a debate for somewhere else.
The NFL’s responsibility is to entertain it’s customers. When I spend $100 on an NFL ticket, $40 dollars on food and drinks, and $20 on parking, I do it to enjoy the sport.
Does every player on the field deserve the privilege of playing in the NFL? Sorry to say, I don’t care. I just want to watch football.
And, for $160, I think the NFL owes me that.
I don’t think Vick should be in the NFL. Why should a guy who killed dogs in the way he did be rewarded with millions of dollars??? Is there no penalty??
how many convicted felons get a second chance. as far as i know none
It’s difficult to understand how so many can actually embrace Michael Vick. He’s the lowest of low, a common thug and animal killer. The guy and his brother have proven what they’re all about and should both be banished to the hood from which they came.
I saw the protest in Philly where they were protesting Michael Vick I think its ashame that all of white people have something negative to say. How would they like if a bunch of black people who are supporting Michael Vick came to their protest march with baseball bats and show them black people are not going for it. This is not 1864 when slavery existed this is the 21st century and he deserves a second chance. I wish the Nation of Islam was there when they were protesting those white people would had been scared out their witts. Leave Michael Vick alone.
I think waht he did was unforgivable however I do believe in second chances. I truley hope that this has hummled him and brought him back to earth. And that what he did was horrible. Animals are helpless creatures that need our protection. If people want to fight to the death its their choice dogs/animals in his case did not have that choice. I like watching Vick play he is a very electricfying player to watch and I hope he can return to his full potential. I also hope that he can be a positive role model and help young children understand that mistreating animals is a crime and they should be protected and loved.
I truly believe that everyone who points the finger at others who have fallen short or who ‘ve been found guilty of a crime is just as guilty. Think you may not have been caught for the things that you have done, but are you innocent? NO. The very people who want to now trash Vick’s name are meat eaters or wildgame hunters in other words animal killers themselves.
Judge ye, judge ye not for we all shall be judged…The man has served his time. Leave him alone and let him work. A job is a job whether professional or not… Sounds like a little jealousy somewhere..Would you not want to be hired in a profession that you like if for some reason you had done something that society does not appreciate. If he was not famous would he be so heavily judged?
My thoughts exactly- well stated.
