No Swimming Zone

This was a common sight across Hampton today. This was from the Willow Oaks area of Hampton. Christina Rowley sent it in. A stationary front and oodles of moisture (yes I said oodles) created torrential downpours. A flash flood warning was issued. You can see the doppler estimated rain totals from Super Doppler 10.

Ed our weather watcher in Williamsburg said he got 1.76″ of rain. About 1.3″ of that was in less than 40 minutes. Don in Toano actually says he needs some rain.
This viewer didn’t need any more rain:

This was from Buckroe Beach. Donald Fallen’s back yard looked like my old high school swimming pool. (It was called the Pirate puddle). Also this was an interesting photo. A vacuum truck was trying to clean out the drain in one Hampton neighborhood. This was sent in by Tami:

Tomorrow we’ll see more rain in the region. The focus of the models is now over our North Carolina cities, but we could see some heavy rain over the Virginia Peninsula and Southside again. The moisture from today isn’t going anywhere. Scattered showers and storms are also expected on Saturday, but we should see less coverage. Isolated showers/T’storms could pop up Sunday afternoon, but high pressure should create more sunshine as it builds in.
Finally, tropical depression number 2 has weakened into a remnant area of low pressure. It is still moving west though. So we’ll monitor this and a strong cluster of storms coming off of Africa. The tropics are definitely showing signs of life. Unfortunately.
