Storms finally arrived tonight.  Lots of viewers saw pictures like these before the rain fell:

A cluster of storms formed over North Carolina earlier this evening. They moved North into a soupy airmass over Hampton Roads.  This photo was sent in by Lisa Grounds from the Grafton area. 

This photo was sent in by Justin Goerke from Newport News.  I’ve had a few viewers say that they saw rotation in the clouds.  It looks like this rotation was in the horizontal.  Unless he pointed the camera straight up.  Even though there was probably a lot of rotation in the area, I think it was mostly disorganized. 

We picked up a quick .88″ of rain in less than an hour at the TV station.  I would believe that some areas received 1-2″ of rain in a short period of time.  Storms will continue for a while then weaken overnight.  We’ll see some more scattered storms tomorrow.
