I traveled from Suffolk to Norfolk and home in Portsmouth between 3:15 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. I am seriously concerned about what could happen if we were to experience a hurricane that would require many more citizens to take to the road. I have seen some of the plans on 64 that would route all of the traffic west on both sides of the interstate. What would happen to the people who must to get through the tunnel to evacuate? Most people in Hampton Roads are have set patterns that they travel and would not know how to get around without using the tunnels. Something needs to be done to educate the public on how to get around without using the tunnels until more tubes are installed to handle the growing population of our area.
