Nice Start, Wet finish

This was the view from Super Doppler 10 this morning.  The rain was moving on in.  So far the weekend has been nice.  We were dry for both Friday and Saturday.  The fireworks went off without a hitch last night at Town Point Park.  It was great.  My son had a great time.  Hopefully, you did too wherever you were.  Today we’ll see occasional showers.  We may see some thunderstorms this afternoon too, but Hampton Roads will be north of a weak cold front that will keep us cool and relatively stable.  (Highs in the upper 70s).  North Carolina cities have a better chance for thunderstorms today as they’ll be closer to the front.  Probably a little warmer too.  An area of low pressure rides along the front tonight and may produce some heavy rain.  We could see an inch of rain if it picks up this evening.  Greg in Currituck, Mike in Whaleyville, and Donna in Blackwater all say that they need some rain.  My yard has been getting a little crispy lately.  It’s just been so dry over the past few days.  Relative humidities have been running in the 30-40% range.  I think I even saw 25% one day.  That’ll suck out the moisture out of any field or garden quickly.  The sky may as well have a straw at that point.

Rain will linger into Monday morning.  Then it will let up for the afternoon.
