I had a message on my anserwing machine from Wachovia stating that my new bank card had been mailed to me and I had not activated yet. I was asked to call them at 1-800-326-1144 to speak with a representative. I called immediatley and a recorded speaker answered as Wachovia and asked me to hold for customer service. A lady answered and stated that she was a representative with Wachovia and asked me for my checking account and social security number. I hung up right away and called the Wachovia number on the back of my bank card. I explained to the reprensentative at Wachovia what had just happened and she said it was a scam and asked if I would like to report it to their Loss Department, which I did. The bank should never ask for your social security number. Please let everyone know about this, especially the elderly.

I sent an Email to Jamie yesterday, with an urgency to get word out to those investigating the scams that are going on, only to get a pre-written message that she won't be back until Monday. I need to get the investigation on this one started. It started on June 10th, and I thought that I had gotten the man off my back by telling him that if he gave me the money, then I would pay whatever amount he wanted. He would not agree. He called me back the next day, and said that he would pay of my VISA bill, which he did. To make a long story short, after sending out $6000.00, I found out through money gram that this was a scam. The check he used to pay off my bill was "rubber" and bounced. Now I am out over $15,500.00, No job, and my unemployment has been cut.
I have kept all the information that this man gave me, phone numbers, people to send the money to. He gave me the bank account routing #, account #, and also the check # which is supposed to be the check that was to come to me for 2.5 million $. I am sure that those numbers are false.
Thank you
