I’m talking about last Tuesday.  Lightning struck a structure near our station.  We had a heck of a storm.  It knocked out our ability to update the web for a bit.  So if you checked out wavy.com and didn’t see an update, then that’s why.  Here are some photos of the lightning:

This was over some area of Portsmouth.  It was taken by Ashley Denmon on Tuesday.  Pretty impressive lightning. 

This is a pretty cool photo.  It looks very magestic and mysterious.  It was taken by Kimberly M. near Naval Station Norfolk.  Oddly the rain total at Norfolk International was 0.04″ for Tuesday.  A good case of the rain missing the rain gauge. 

Today we actually had a Severe Thunderstorm Watch posted, but it was cancelled early.  There were no warnings and the storms weakened so the National Weather Service took the watch down.  It’s a nice change of pace compared to Tuesday.  We’ll see a few more showers and storms this evening, but nothing like Tuesday.
