More Storms

This image was from Wednesday night’s storm. It was taken by Lynne Calvert in Belle Haven on the Eastern Shore. We had some wild weather yesterday, and some more wild weather today. Luckily a cold front moved through and stabilized most of the metro. We did have a Tornado Watch posted for a few parts of the area, but we’ve had no tornado warnings locally. Heavy rain is the main threat through the evening. Overnight the above mentioned boundary will sink a little further south. Then an area of low pressure will ride up along it and push the front back North. We’ll see some heavy rain at times. Tomorrow the front will be draped through the area. Heavy rain will again be possible as the low moves up from the south-southwest. The highest rain amounts are forecast to be north of the metro.

This is the forecast from HPC (Hydrometeorological Prediction Center). Basically, in English, it shows that about 1-2 inches of rain are possible (overall) from this afternoon through Saturday morning. (Saturday evening to appease the technically correct folks, but it shouldn’t rain for most of Saturday). This is broad based. Amounts will vary locally. But the trend is more for the Northern Neck. We’re still down about 3 inches for the year Norofolk International airport.
