Hot, Hot, Hot!

We are going from running the heaters to running the A.C.s in less than 2 days.  It is just crazy.  The big reason for the warmup is the Bermuda High.  This feature is a semi-permanent area of high pressure that sits off the southeast coast of the United States for a good bit of the year.

This weekend it is oriented to bring us a warmup.  This will do 2 things.  First, it’s going to  pump in the heat with south/southwest winds.  It’s also going to scrunch the air down as air typically sinks in high pressure regions.  (Very subtle).  This compression heats up the air and allows temps to climb.  Remember clouds and rain hate sinking air.  So other than a stray pop-up shower or storm we’ll see mostly sunny skies Saturday and Sunday.  Should be a good breeze to help cool you down a bit.  The boating forecast looks good with no SCA’s today.  Pollen forecast is moderate to high.  The Tides game tonight should be nice and mild.  Good weather all around.  I just wish the heat didn’t come on so sudden.  The record at Norfolk International is 96 today/97 tomorrow.  We probably won’t get either of those.    By the way the water temperatures are running in the upper 50s to lower 60s.  So you may not be diving into the Bay or Ocean just yet.  Even with the heat.  Kids…they’ll jump into anything so keep an eye on them.

Finally, thanks for all the nice comments about the birth of my daughter!  Her and mom are doing well, but big brother is a bit jealous of all the attention.
