Back Door Front Nonsense
Since we live so close to the ocean, we are prone to get these back door cold fronts that visit us a few times a year. Today a back door front will move in from the Northeast. This time it will be a little different. It isn’t expected to move through the entire area. So it will really split the temps. We will warm up quite a bit in a good portion of the viewing area though, and I still think overall today will be a good day.

Yesterday was about perfect, but there will be more cloud cover today. Despite mixed cloud cover we will warm up to near 80 in some locations. Look at the forecast temperatures from our computer model “Futuretrak” below.

When the front comes through it will drop temps significantly. This will create a large spread or gradient in our highs. We’ll hit a few 80s inland, but only 60s on the Eastern Shore. Eventually it will cool down the Northern Neck, Middle Peninsula, and cities near the shore on the Peninsula and Southside. The front will lift back north as a warm front tomorrow morning. This may create a few strong storms. The large area of low pressure on the first graphic moves closer to us tomorrow. The Storm Prediction Center has us under a slight risk for severe weather. So don’t be surprised if we see some strong storms with large hail or severe wind gusts. Our model has a round of storms in the morning and another cluster late in the afternoon. After this system we’ll get a cool down for midweek. Highs on Wednesday may return to the 50s. For now I’m forecasting low 60s. Then another warm up towards next weekend. By the way my new baby is not here yet, but coming soon. Stay tuned!
