Humidity And Overnight Storms

Wow!  I was out driving today on a school visit to Mcintosh Elementary in Newport News.  It was a career day.  On the way back, I noticed that it was fairly humid out.  One nice thing about the cool February and March that we had was fairly low humidity.  Now that the warmth and humidity are back, the pollen is starting to come up.  Lawns and trees are really sprouting.   I just got tested for allergies after suffering for years.  I recommend it if you are impacted.  When I got tested, they did the usual routine.  (yes with needles).   The ragweed needle turned my popeye forearm into a bright red patch.  I didn’t/couldn’t itch it so that made for a fun afternoon.  We’ll be covering pollen in the forecast over the next few weeks.

A warm front is expected to lift through the region overnight.  This will create scattered showers and a few thunderstorms.  The storms will continue through midday Friday.  We may see a couple of strong storms with heavy rain and gusty winds.  Winds will even be gusty outside of any rain.  Winds tonight through Friday afternoon will be W/SW 15-25mph with gusts to 35mph.  It’s that time of year.  We’re not in a slight risk for severe weather, but there was mention from the Storm Prediction Center that we could get upgraded.  Stay tuned to Jon Cash in the morning.  He’ll be in with Super Doppler 10 (cue the music) to talk about the rain.
