Big Temperature Drop

Wow!  What a difference 4 HOURS makes.  At 1pm Norfolk International Airport was at 69 degrees.  At 2 pm 71 degrees.  The front moved through, and dropped it down to 55 by 3pm.  54 by 4 o’clock.  Pretty crazy.  (See previous post for a comparison of tower cam 10 and the forecast for today).  Scattered showers have moved in with the cold.

I don’t know if I ever blogged about it, but one time in Illinois there was a crazy temperature drop.  The temperature in the mid-morning was something like 48 degrees.  The temperature in the afternoon dropped to the 20s.  Overnight the low was -2.  I think the high the next day was something like 4.  That’s when I was at the University of Illinois.  Back then I didn’t watch the weather every night.  Needless to say, I was unprepared for the weather that day.  They had an amazing bus system that got everyone around pretty well, but sometimes you had to wait 20-30 minutes for a bus.  It was at a bus stop that I decided to live further south where it was warm.  I’m thawed out now after a decade or so.  Strangely, I don’t think it rained or snowed during that whole event.  It did what my mom used to say “Blew Over”.  Wierd!
