<description>Hopefully you can help with my situation.

I am having a hard time getting a straight answer from Virginia Beach school officials to find out if a student is caught using their cell phone in school to text, do the school officials have the right to thoroughly search through the students phone looking at all of their text messages, over 200 pictures and our personal home videos of my family? I searched through the student handbook and did not find anything stating that they are able to search the phone, I understand that the only possible time they may have that right is if another student claims they are receiving threats or inappropriate sexual material from another student. Please help because I&#039;m not sure of my rights and can&#039;t seem to get an answer.

I feel like this principal searched her phone without proper cause and feel there has to be some type of invasion of privacy issues here. Any information you have on this will be greatly appreciated.
