What’s Next?
As we look to the future… will we see any snow this year? It’s possible. We have a chance at seeing a rain/snow mix a couple times in the 7 day forecast. We’ll have a couple of days of cold air with milder air following. It actually snows about 1-3 times a year here in the viewing area every year. But it either melts or is very local and not everyone sees it. Plus, a lot of Northerners (like myself) say “snow…that’s not snow. 5-10″ is snow. An inch is a flurry”. Of course around here an inch is bad for drivers.
Well, Sunday night there is another chance for a rain/snow mix. An area of low pressure will move offshore. It has some similarities to last Tuesday. It is definitely NOT a done deal. However, we could see some moisture move in and create a rain/sleet/snow mix.
Also we will be on the border between some mild and cold air over the next several days. A front may linger near or over the area for a while. This is going to create at least a chance for rain showers between Tuesday and Friday. We may see another mix on Tuesday. All the cold air has to do is nudge in to Hampton Roads in order to get a little snow. I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up, but I just want to mention that we have a chance. My mind reading skills are telling me that people are out there saying “I’ll believe it when I see it”. so I will transmit and say “So will I”.
The tone of your blog is off, you seem very sad to be blogging again yet some of us enjoy learning the inner workings of meteorology. I appreciate everything that you guys and girls do. Although I know you guys are not 100%, if it weren’t for you ‘ologists we would not know what the weather is possibly going to be like until we start our days. Then it could change, so please cheer up! Nobody wants to read a depressed tone blog!!!!
I like your courage to predict snow after last weeks mistake. I really hope somehow the cold air comes further south and we get surprised like we used to back in the day.
