Mix In Hindsight
We followed the mix so closely over the last couple of days. We need some closure. Last night we did have a little mix around the area. Don in Toano mentioned some light snow around 9:30pm. There was a Winter Weather Advisory posted for Richmond (briefly). But a lot of the precipitation transitioned into scattered rain showers and moved on through. Then this morning we had the cold front push through. A few flurries or a light snow shower may have fallen across the Middle Peninsula, Northern Neck, and Eastern Shore. I don’t have any reports, but it was on the radar. An offshore low formed last night, but quickly pushed northeast before the cold air could get in here. I’d say all the models were wrong to some degree. The GFS got the precip generally right, but missed the timing and amounts. The NAM completely missed everything that happened yesterday evening. Our model varied, but never really locked on to the system. It was a tricky forecast and I’m sorry that we didn’t get anything to stick. All the models did forecast that upper level trough (wave of energy) pretty well. There will definitely be more opportunities for snow over the next 2 months. Today and tonight will be cold. Highs today will be in the lower 40s. Wind chills in the 30s. Tonight will see lows in the 20s with chills in the teens. Bundle up and keep the drafts out of your home.
I agree completely, also next chance for snow could be the Dec 11-13 storm, 12z GFS is looking good esp west of here
