Rough Weather
This morning we had a tornado watch and a couple of warnings in North Carolina. Southwest of the viewing area there were reports of damage to several buildings from an apparent tornado. These reports were closer to the Rocky Mount area than Hampton Roads. Robersonville and Kenly had structural damage to several buildings and even 2 fatalaties were reported by the National Weather Service located in Raleigh. Very sad. As those storms moved northeast they still had weak rotation, but didn’t spawn any tornadoes in our viewing area. At least not that I saw. The damage is believed to be from a tornado, but NWS will go out and do assesments today before a final report. We had very heavy rain here in Hampton Roads for a while, but I haven’t seen any damage or flooding reports.
There has been a letup in the rain. The sun has actually popped out for a bit. But we’ll still see scattered storms form later this afternoon. A line of storms will roll across the area this evening as the cold front passes. We may see severe weather around that time. Lots of warmth and humidity to work with. So again mid/late afternoon into the early evening keep your eye on the sky. Or you could watch WAVY TV 10, or FOX 43 if you want. Either way we’ll be monitoring.
